Tecno Camon 16 Premier
Only a few months after the launch of the Camon 15 Premier smartphone and Tecno is back with another device in the Camon premier series, the Camon 16 Premier. The Camon 16 Premier is one of the devices in the Camon 16 series. As expected, this device comes with great improvements over its predecessor. The Camon 16 premier features an upgraded camera and a more powerful performance.
The Camon 16 Premier is the first device out of Tecno’s flagship phones to feature a 90Hz refresh rate screen. This upgrade was needed by Tecno after its competition Infinix announced the Zero 8 smartphone with same feature.
Price and Availability
The Camon 16 Premier will be sold at a starting price of $310, ₹22,589.49 in India, ₦118,000 in Nigeria, GH₵ 1,520 in Ghana and KSh 28,000 in Kenya.
Design and Display
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier has a polycarbonate (plastic) body with a gradient glossy finish. The smartphone is available in only one colour; Glacial Silver. The Camon 16 Premier has a dimension of 170.61 x 77.18 x 9.1mm. The fingerprint scanner is mounted at the side which also serves as the power button. Located at the rear is a quad camera setup and five LED flash. The phone has a dual nano SIM card reversible USB-C port.
The Camon 16 Premier sports a 6.9-inch FHD+ Gorilla Glass 5 display that supports HDR 10+ with a 90hz refresh rate. The display has a pill-shaped cutout that houses the dual selfie camera.
Tecno Camon 16 Premier Camera
This device has a quad camera setup with a 64MP Ultra Clear Lens as its main camera. There is also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro-Shooter and a 2MP Bokeh lens that shoots 1080p videos. The camera is supported by five LED flash and features HDR and Panorama.
The Camon 16 premier has a dual selfie camera setup, a 48MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. They also shoot videos in 1080p and features HDR.
Hardware and Software
The smartphone runs on Android 10 and a HiOS 7.0 UI. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G90T chipset which is built on a 12nm process and it’s clocked at a 2.35Ghz with eight cores. In terms of graphics, you get the PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
The Camon 16 premier packs an 8GB RAM and an internal storage of 128GB which is expandable via microSD card up to 512GB.
Connectivity and Battery
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier is powered by a non-removable Li-polymer 4,500mAh big battery. The smartphone supports 33W flash charging which greatly cuts down the charging time. Tecno claims that this device can get from 0 – 70% battery life under 30 minutes of charging. The manufacturer also claims that this device can last an entire day of usage before charging is needed.
The Tecno Camon 6 premier connectivity option includes Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 2.0 Type-C USB.
In general, the specifications are pretty much the same with the Infinix Zero 8, no surprise since both mobile companies are owned by Shenzen-based Transsion Holdings, the biggest smartphone manufacturer in Africa.
