It seems Samsung is not satisfied with launching only the Galaxy S21 series in the first half of the year. They have also launched the new Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A72 in its second Unpacked event of the year, following the release of the Galaxy S21 series and the Galaxy A32. Unlike the S-series devices, the A-series are cheaper but come with specs worthy of your money.
Second Unpacked Event Summary
When it comes to the A-series phones, the best word for describing them is “awesome”. Their specs are not as impressive as the S-series, but at their prices, they look pretty damn good.
Before we venture into the specs of these devices, the design of these phones takes its inspiration from the newly released S21 series. With the camera design on these set of A-series taking its form from the S21 Ultra-style camera lens layout and integrated camera module. All three phones are available in four colours, Awesome White, Awesome Black, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Blue.
Samsung Galaxy A72 Specs
Of all the devices, the Galaxy A72 is the most expensive, priced at 449 euros or about $550. The Galaxy A72 sports a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display and features a refresh rate of 90Hz. This smartphone packs a 64MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom, a 30x digital zoom, plus a 5MP camera for macro duties.
The Galaxy A72 is a 4G LTE phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. This device packs up to 8GB of RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB of storage space. The phone features an in-display fingerprint sensor, a MicroSD card slot, a battery capacity of 5,000mAh and IP67 water resistance.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Specs
On the other hand, the Galaxy A52 is the cheapest among the three devices, priced at 349 euros, about $315. The Samsung A52 seem to be an excellent device with great value even at such price.
The phone features a 6.5-inche AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, same as the Galaxy A72. The Galaxy A52 also packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset and is available in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB of RAM variants. It also has the same internal storage options as the Samsung A72.
The galaxy A52 has a 64MP main camera, a12MP wide-angle camera, and 5MP cameras for macro and depth photography.
The Samsung A52 is also a 4G LTE phone and features an in-display fingerprint sensor, MicroSD card slot, 4,500mAh battery capacity and has an IP67 water resistance rating.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Specs
In-between the Galaxy A52 and A72 is the Galaxy A52 5G. At a price of 429 euros, or about $510, the galaxy A52 5G has similar specs as the regular A52. The only difference here is the bump up in screen refresh rate to 120Hz on the same 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel and the addition of 5G connectivity.
The Samsung A-series (A52, A52 5G, and A72) Specs similarities
All three A-series devices share many features. Some of these features are optical image stabilization (OIS) on all three main cameras, the OneUI 3 user interface over Android 11, Dolby Atmos support and more powerful speakers.
All three devices also come equipped with an emergency power software that delivers about 30 minutes of battery life when you really need it. Samsung claims the devices have a battery life of two days on a charge.
There are plenty of fun software features in the Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72’s cameras too. They include, 4K Video Snap to take an 8MP still during a 4K video recording, 30 different scenes recognized by artificial intelligence, an enhanced set of emoji for video. And also, Fun Mode which has been developed with Snapchat to add augmented reality (AR) filters to videos and photos.
