Huawei FreeBuds 3i

The Huawei FreeBuds 3i is one of the latest member of the Huawei’s actively noise cancelling wireless earphones.

Aside the lower price and a larger and pill-shaped casing instead of a round box. The FreeBuds 3i are now better-fitting in your ears, with the inclusion of good OI silicon tips. The seal tips provide better isolating which aids the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature.

The performance of the FreeBuds 3i was great in noisy environment and also in other scenarios. The 3.5 hours of battery life, good call and audio quality, ergonomic fit, simple navigation and cost of under $200 makes the Huawei FreeBuds 3i better than most of its competition. If you are looking to get more than the regular 3 hours of battery life, then you need to be with the huge case at all times.

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Design and Comfort

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Design and Comfort

Looking at the Huawei FreeBuds 3i design, it may look like an Apple Airpod to most people from afar. But on a closer look, you will find it is very different.

The Huawei FreeBuds 3i comes with a new cone-shaped body design with silicon ear tips and a stem. The FreeBuds 3i is capable of blocking out external noise because of its silicon tips. Though the FreeBuds 3i has an amazing design, it may feel less comfortable for some individuals.

The FreeBuds 3i at 5.5 grams weighs slightly heavier than the 4 grams Apple Airpods. The earbuds fit perfectly into your ear canal compared to open-fit earbuds. It comes with four different sizes of silicon tips so you can find the best fit for you.

The FreeBuds 3i comes in a glossy finished case with a carbon black or ceramic white colour, along with matching coloured earbuds.

The case can not be opened easily using just one hand. The earbuds are held firmly in the case by strong magnets.

battery life can be easily determined through an LED indicator located at the outside and inside of the case.

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Connectivity and Controls

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Connectivity and Controls

The FreeBuds 3i is equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 version and can work on any Bluetooth enabled device such as iphone, ipad, Android phones or laptops. Pairing is very simple on this device by using a button attached to the back of the case to enable pairing mode. This device can easily pair with a Huawei phone running EMUI 10 by simply opening the case.

The connectivity of this device is great aside from the few times we experienced a drop in connectivity.

In case you experience an issue while trying to pair your devices, Huawei advises to press and hold down the function button on the case for two seconds. If the issue persists then hold the button for ten seconds for a factory reset.

The earbuds are touch enabled. You double tap to play/pause music, or to answer/end calls and tap longer to enable and disable the Active Noise Cancellation. The earbuds also come with an Awareness mode feature that helps to amplify external sounds. This was done to enable users listen to people talking to them without having to pause their music. However, this mode is only accessible via the Huawei AI life App, which is only available on Android devices. This also means an iphone or laptop user will not be able to activate this function as well as download and install software updates on the FreeBuds 3i.

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Sound Quality

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Sound Quality

The FreeBuds 3i is equiped with 10nm dynamic drives. The earbuds sound good for most genre of music.

Huawei included three mics for talking and noise cancellation. This makes call quality very good. The mics were able to weed out the environment noises at the receiving end. Likewise, we could hear them clearly.

When it comes to the sound quality, the FreeBuds 3i has good bass when listening to music.

Huawei FreeBuds 3i Battery life and charging

The Huawei FreeBuds 3i delivers up to 3.5 hours in a single charge. In case this is not enough for you, the FreeBuds 3i case offers additional 14.5 hours of battery life. That is to say, you will be tasked with taking the case with you everywhere you go.

The Huawei FreeBuds 3i takes roughly about an hour and 30 minutes to charge from zero to hundred percent.

The main competition faced by the FreeBuds 3i are earbuds produced by Apple and Samsung and they all have superior battery life. Hopefully, Huawei plans to introduce a larger battery for its future editions of the FreeBuds series.
