Xiaomi Mi 11 Series

When Apple first dropped the in-box charger with its iPhone 12 devices, brands like Samsung and Xiaomi made a mockery of this decision. However, it seems like most companies are coming around the idea. From the information gotten from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, they are following the in-box charger trend with their upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 phone.

This information was shared by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, explaining the decision. Lei Jun also posted a picture of the phone’s box, which confirm some of the phone’s specs.

Lei Jun said, “In response to the call of technology and environmental protection, Xiaomi 11 canceled the random charger”. He further said, “we are well aware that this decision may not be understood or even complained.” (These statements have been put through a machine translation, so its meaning might not be exact).

From Lei Jun’s statement, it seems the charger was dropped by Xioami to reduce e-waste, apple’s original idea. When you critically think about this decision, you will find out that it is a genuinely nice idea. It will be of benefit to most consumers. Reason being most people already own a compactable charger from an earlier device and may not need more chargers coming with every new gadget. This will result in a reduction in price since the charging unit is off your purchase. However, those who do not own a compactable charger can easily buy one.

If Xiaomi joins apple in dropping the in-box chargers along with Samsung, we could see most brands following this trend in 2021.

What’s in the box?

As stated before, a picture of the Xiaomi Mi 11 box was shared by Lei Jun on Weibo. From the image, the box looks small, as it should be without a charger in the box. However, from the box, we also saw that the packaging notes some of the phone’s specs.

Therefore, we can confirm that the Xiaomi Mi 11 will be coming with a 108MP main camera. It will also sport a Super AMOLED HDR10+ screen and speakers optimized by Harman Kardon. Although, the details as to what size the screen will be was not placed on the box in the photo.

Xiaomi Mi 11 launch date

That’s all we know for certain, though the Xiaomi Mi 11 launch date is today (December 28), so we haven’t gotten long to wait to find out more.
