Samsung Galaxy S21

According to Android Authority, Samsung’s next flagship smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S21 series will be launching globally on January 14th 2021. The date was revealed by Samsung’s largest mobile experience store in India. It was confirmed by SamMobile through an official at Samsung’s local offices. Although Android Authority referred to this as the global launch date, Samsung HQ is yet to confirm this story. All efforts to get a confirmation by The Verge from Samsung proved abortive. Samsung insists that they do not comment or rumours or speculations.

Although the January launch may come as a rush to the February Unpacked events, we have grown accustomed to over the years. However, this is not the first time this date has been rumoured. Android Police earlier this month reported the Galaxy S21 launch to be on January 14th based on its own sources.

Android Authority also said, according to their source at Samsung’s Opera House outlet in Bengaluru, the S21 will go on sale in India on January 29th. Pre-orders for the upcoming Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra are ongoing in this store. A deposit of around $27 is recommend. However, full price for the S21 series lineup is yet to be announced.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Specs

Android Authority alongside confirming the launch date, has also unveiled some of the upcoming galaxy S21 series specs. From their source, it is believed that the Galaxy S21 series will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2100 processor in India. They further said that the S21 will be coming in three models in the following colours: gray, pink, purple, and white for the S21; pink, purple, silver and black for the S21 Plus; and black and silver for the S21 Ultra. They also said that the S21 Ultra will have a 108-megapixel main sensor, with two additional 10-megapixel sensors. One of which will have a 10x optical zoom.

The latest report adds to a host of leaked details about the new handsets. Earlier this week we got an early look at the phones through a series of leaked teaser trailers. The trailers show off the galaxy S21 series redesigned camera bumps. These trailers appear to confirm that the S21 Ultra will have a total of five cameras, compared to three on the S21 and S21 Plus.

The trailers followed a report in November which said that each of the phones will come with 120Hz displays. It also said that they will have screens ranging from 6.2 to 6.8-inches in size. Internally, they’ll reportedly have batteries ranging in size from 4,000 mAh to 5,000 mAh. They will also be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 888 processor in regions that don’t use Samsung’s own processors. The S21 Ultra is also expected to be compatible with Samsung’s S-Pen. This is important considering the rumors that the stylus-equipped Note lineup is being dropped.
