The new Oppo X 2021 rollable phone has been the topic of discussion for most Oppo fans. Recently, new videos have appeared, giving us a better look at the upcoming Oppo X 2021 rollable phone.
Wireless Air Charging
Thanks to the rollable screen and its support for wireless air charging the Oppo X 2021 is on a different level from other mobile devices. Oppo is the first to come up with a wireless Air charging technology which puts them at the top of foldables. We hope this tech advancement is as fast as the wireless charging we are used to.
The hands-on video released by oppo on its YouTube channel shows the device held at several centimeters above the charging pad and still continues to charge.
Oppo claims that the phone will still charge even when it is 10cm above the charging pad. They further mentioned that the wireless Air charging can deliver up to 7.5W of power. The rollable phone makes use of “magnetic resonance technology” so it can charge at any position above the pad. That is to say, using magnets to deliver inductive coupling between two wire coils, one in the device and one in the charger.
We have gotten a taste of how the rollable will work thanks to Oppo’s hands-on video, which shows that merely sliding a finger down the side of the phone is enough to make it expand from 6.7-inches to 7.4-inches.
Aside the short clip from Oppo, two recent videos have emerged from Europe, giving us a better look at the Oppo X 2021 rollable phone.
These videos were first spotted by XDA Developers. Though the videos do not appear to be in English, they give us a proper look at how the rolling mechanism will work on the device.
The first video is in French, courtesy of Brandon Le Proktor in France.

The second video is in German, thanks to AllroundPC in Germany.
For those interested in how the rollable screen works, the device uses interlocking back plating powered by a pair of small motors that slide apart and then back together as required.
The video also shows how Oppo’s ColorOS software and apps adjust in real-time to fit the screen when expanded. It also does the same when the screen is taken back to this original state.
Oppo is not the only company in the expandable screen business. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to launch this year, and it is sure to give the Oppo X 2021 hell.
The lack of hinges in rollable phones gives them an edge over foldables. This is because of reoccurring problems with the hinges like breakage and causing creases on the screen itself.
To all excited Oppo fans out there, anticipating the launch of the Oppo X 2021 rollable phone, it is quit disappointing to say that there has been no confirmation as to whether the phone will be released to consumers or not.
