Mi Mix Fold
It has been almost a month since Xiaomi Germany announced the Mi Mix Fold. However, latest news suggest that the upcoming Mi Mix device will be no more. Though no cogent reason has been given to explain why this Mi Mix Fold Special Edition was called off.
Most people claim the Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Fold is the best flexible-display device on the 2021 market thus far. Renders display that it has an inward-folding design that conceals an 8-inch 2K display free of punch-holes and a triple rear camera that incorporates a 108MP main sensor, liquid lens technology and a custom-made in-house ISP. Furthermore, it is quite cheaper compared to rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Huawei Mate X2 with its 9999 yuan (~US$1540) kick-off price.

Last week, it was rumoured that Xiaomi might launch the Mi Mix Fold internationally. This rumour was backed up by another claiming that this model was sighted on an Indian IMEI database having the model number M2011J18G, with the G suffix confirming it as a global variant. However, Nils Ahrensmeier of TechnikNews claims that these rumour are not true.
Ahrensmeier posted on his Twitter account stating the following:
No, there won’t be a #MiMixFold Global Launch this year. Official Statement from Xiaomi (Germany).
Because that rumor is doing the rounds:— Nils Ahrensmeier (@NilsAhrDE) April 23, 2021

By saying “no global launch” it does not imply that Xiaomi will only sell the Mi Mix Fold in China. Let us take for example, the device may still arrive in India, but not Germany or the rest of Europe. A contradictory post on Xiaomi’s global Twitter channel confirms that the Mi Mix Fold exist as announced on March 30.
We will be releasing a special edition #MiMIXFOLD very soon. We can’t wait to show it to you. Be sure to check back for more details. #XiaomiMegaLaunch pic.twitter.com/4Gp2cIv7Tp— Xiaomi (@Xiaomi) March 30, 2021
At that time, a tweet from Xiaomi says that it would be ‘releasing a special edition Mi Mix Fold very soon’, which also implies that there was a plan to launch the device not only within China but also outside China at some stage. Since then, it is quite unfortunate that Xiaomi has been mute on this particular product as no further information on the product have been released.
