iOS 15

Rumors circulating suggests that Apple’s upcoming operating system, the iOS 15 expected to be unveiled in June will be supported by only a few of Apple’s older iPhones.

According to iPhoneSoft, ‌user will not be able to install iOS 15‌ on iPhones with the S9 chip. These includes the iPhone 6s, the ‌iPhone‌ 6s Plus, or the 2016 iPhone SE.

It is definitely not a surprise to hear that ‌iPhone‌ 6s and 6s Plus will not be able to run the iOS 15. The phones are more than five years old since their introduction in 2015. However, if the rumours are true, these iPhones will not be able to update past the iOS 14.

The iOS 15 will however run on the iphone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and newer iPhones. These means, the iOS 15 will be compatible with devices that have an A10 chip or newer. The seventh generation iPod touch should be able to run iOS 15 as well since it has an A10 chip.

‌For those that make use of an iPad, iPadOS 15 may support the iPadmini 4, iPad Air 2 and iPad 5 equipped with A8, A8X, and A9 chips, respectively. Newer iPad are expected to support the iPadOS 15 update.

These rumours may very much be true. This is the second time this topic has been rumoured around. In November an Israeli site, TheVerifier posted about this topic, that the iOS 15 may not support some older iPhones. This second post may be all the confirmation we need pertaining this matter.
