iPhone 12
Apple has launched yet another repair Program, this time for the iPhone 12 and phone 12 Pro models with sound issues. Though we’ve seen many of those programs before: for crackling in the AirPods Pro, for faulty screens on the iPad Air, for unresponsive displays on the iPhone 11, and more. But this is the first and hopefully the last repair program to be announced for the iPhone 12.
Under the terms of the newly introduced service program, users of the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro models who experience difficulty hearing the person they are speaking to on calls can have their devices repaired or replaced at no cost.
According to Apple’s statement, “Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience sound issues due to a component that might fail on the receiver module.”
Apple went on to say that this flaw only affects devices manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021, and that it has not been spotted on the iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12 Pro Max models. As a result, the mini and Pro Max models are not included in the program.
What should you do if you are one of these users?
To have your iPhone examined, contact Apple Support, visit an Apple Store, or visit an authorized Apple service provider – more information is available here. According to Apple, “all iPhones will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program”.
To be eligible for the program, you must have purchased your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro within the last two years. If your device is working fine now but develops issues later, you can still get a free service from Apple as long as those two years aren’t up.
