The Apple iphone 12 Pro just like the iphone 12 is a big leap from the iphone 11 and its predecessors. There were many changes made on both the inside and outside of the iphone 12 Pro. The edge iphone 12 Pro has over the iphone 12 and iphone 12 mini is the camera. The iphone 12 Pro not only offers a telephoto lens for optical zoom but has a new LiDAR scanner that speeds up auto focusing and enables Night mood portraits. Similar to the other latest iphone 12 models, the iphone 12 pro makes use of a simple Magsafe wireless charging system. Therefore, no charger is placed in the box and has to he bought separately from Apple. The device only comes with a USB-C lighting cable.
Price and Configurations
The iphone 12 Pro is set to be released on Oct. 23 2020. The iphone 12 comes in three configurations based on their storage space. The iphone 12 Pro with 128GB of storage cost about $999/£999, the model with 256GB of storage cost about $1,099/£1,099 and the 512GB of storage model cost about $1,299/£1,299. It may be of importance for you to know that a discount of £280 off the price applies for those trading an older and eligible iphone for the new one.
Since the iphone 12 Pro does not come with a charger, to charge the device fast, you may have to purchase the 20W charger, or the new Magsafe wireless charger which cost $19/£19 and $39/£39 respectively.
iphone 12 Pro Design
Apple moved away the round design it has being using in the past iPhones and has fallen to a flat edge look. Though some may find this to be a new design, Apple simply went back in time to bring back their flat design on the iphone 4 and 5 and did a few tweaks on it. The stainless steel sides feel more solid and less slippery than the iphone 11 Pro. The flat edges are sharper than the curvie sides we are used to but feels absolutely comfortable.
Apple also trimmed the bezels around the display which resulted in a bigger 6.1 inches display in a nearly similar 5.8 inches chassis of the iphone 11 Pro. This makes the iPhone 12 Pro a more easier and comfortable smartphone to use.
If the fear of damage is a factor your choice of a phone, Apple has come up with a better front display protection with four times better drop resistance than the iphone 11 pro. This new display features a ceramic shield glass which was done by growing nano-ceramic Crystal’s within the glass matrix. Apple also promises a two times tougher back glass compared to the iphone 11 Pro.
Apple also packed an IP68 water resistance with a rating of 6 meters (19.7 feet) which is deeper than the 2 meters (6.5 feet) rating on the iphone 11 Pro. Worrying about your phone falling to the bottom of a pool is now a thing of the past.
The iphone 12 Pro comes in four colours: Graphite, silver, Gold and Pacific Blue. The matte glass back also seem to pick up lesser fingerprints than usual.

Apple iphone 12 Pro Display
The iphone 12 Pro comes with a similar stylish notch like the iphone 12. It delivers a more viewable experience than its predecessors, credits to its large 6.1 inches panel and slimmer bezels.
The iphone 12 Pro has a 1170 × 2532 pixels resolution and 460dpi slightly higher than that of the iphone 11 Pro. The galaxy note 20 ultra’s OLED screen has a better display than the iphone 12 Pro. However, the display brightness of the iphone 12 Pro averages a 742nits, which is higher than the 662.7nits of the galaxy note 20 ultra. This makes this device display easier to use under day light.
One thing the iphone 12 Pro display lacks is a high refresh rate which the galaxy note 20 ultra, galaxy s20 ultra, xiaomi Mi 10 ultra and other smartphones has. Most Android smartphones have a 120Hz refresh rate panel that enables smooth animations and faster scrolling. However, this may not be much of a problem as iphones are generally fast which is no different for the iphone 12 Pro because of its new A14 Bionic processor.
Apple iphone 12 Pro Camera
The iphone 12 Pro comes with a super camera setup. I call it a super camera because its capabilities are so impressive that calling it just a camera is an insult. Though it still makes use of the regular 12MP resolution on the wide, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses, there are several upgrades here. Starting with a faster f/1.6 aperture for the main camera, that offers a 27% improvement in low-light picture performance.
Other features include Night mode for both the front and rear cameras, deep fusion on every camera for better detail and smart HDR3 for getting the best results in tricky lighting conditions.
Comparing the image quality of the iphone 12 Pro with that of galaxy note 20 ultra, that of iphone 12 Pro out beats the galaxy note 20 ultra camera quality with just a little margin. The iphone 12 Pro is the world’s first phone that can shoot footage in HDR with Dolby vision support. That means this device can capture up to 700 million colours when recording videos. And the frame rate goes up to 60fps in 4k.
Apple iphone 12 Pro Performance
With Apple’s world first 5nm chip (A14 Bionic processor),makes the iphone 12 Pro a very fast smartphone. The iphone 12 Pro is very fast and when tested with games, it performed much more than expected. It is capable of running heavy games with very little or no stutter.
Multitasking with this device is very efficient, with some apps experiencing little to no load time when switching between tasks.
Apple iphone 12 Pro Battery life
The iphone 12 Pro offers pretty good battery life, but the 5G takes a serious toll on the battery. The iphone 12 Pro lasted 9 hours and 6 minutes on 5G networks, and 11 hours and 24 minutes when it was switched to 4G LTE.
With the “Smart Data” mode feature present, this device helps to switch between 5G and 4G automatically when you are not surfing the web.
iphone 12 Pro Charging and Magsafe
Apple did not include a charger in the box of the iphone 12 Pro. You have to pay an extra $19 to get a 20W charger, promising 50% capacity in 30 minutes.
Apple has also introduced a new feature “MagSafe” for the iphone 12 Pro and other iphone 12 models. The iphone 12 Pro has a magnet built into it’s back where the Magsafe is attached. The Magsafe delivers 15W of power, is sold at $39and it takes about 30 minutes to deliver 39% battery life.
There are also Magsafe cases available for the iphone 12 Pro as well as other iPhone 12 models.
